hi i agree with the local about the saturday in the park i think it should be moved if possible its to far out of the town for people to walk to and it wasnt well attended last the weather might of played a part there as for the year before it was so well attended as the clubs sports day was on the exploris park woild be good or ann street football field maybe. could the football matches not be moved to cloughy road and the thinhgs in park move to ann street.

Gala Reply: We are looking into the use of Exploris Park - there are a number of issues around it's use - we'd need to hire in Portaloo's for example as the Pavillion is now "out of bounds", but we do agree as a setting it would be great, we always liked it at Halloween for the Glow Village :) If we can get around all the various issues, we will use it as a venue.

The Gala holds very special memories for me! 1980 especially! planning on coming home for the Gala Float night this year - it's been a long time!

How about take me out and come dancing for the bars during gala week would be a good laugh or any 1 to enter. Need more events for adults I remember years ago when I was young the whole town got involved in gala week now the town doesn't really support anything anymore. Like tug of war in the square for bars and other teams would be good to c back

Gala Reply:
Over the last 8 years we've run a number of events aimed at adults - but they just haven't been well attended. We dropped the live bands in the Square because most people stood around it, rather than in it, leaving children to run wild with water bombs and silly string.
While the tug of war was a popular event, when revived a few years back, we found it very hard to get teams to enter.
The last few paid for events for adults, just haven't covered their cost, so it's very hard to justify the spend they involve
That's not to say Gala isn't open to ideas - an inter bar Gala Challenge sometime during the week would be good fun and could raise money for floats etc.

hi I was talking to a few friends and were thinking what about a country evening on the sat of gala week in the old caravan car park at exploris with bbq couple of groups playing and bring ur own bottle if u charge 5 to get in. and could the Saturday afternoon in the park be moved to there aswell easier for people to walk to u could have tractors in the demains car park and town challenge on the flat grass at the park could this be brought up at next meeting thanks would be handy for a lot of people

Gala Reply:
While a nice idea, the area in question isn't available for that kind of entertainment. The car park isn't suitable for the tractors either. However, a country afternoon/evening is under discussion at the moment, as this idea has been suggested by a few people over the last year. Keep an eye on our website for more details :)
