Welcome to Gala Week

We hope everyone has a great time over the next seven days, for full information on our events, check out the Gala programme (link in the menu) and to stay in touch with all things Portaferry, stay tuned to ferry fm, our very own festival radio station, broadcasting from the town and covering all things “Gala”. As always thanks to everyone who has worked so hard over the last few months, to our Sponsors, big and small, without whom Gala Week just couldn’t happen. Have fun, everyone.

Ferry FM

Ferry FM plans to launch programming again, very shortly. The station is now based in it’s new home at the Recreational Hub, beside the Sailing Club.

If you have ever listened to the radio and thought “I could do that!”, please do get in touch.
If you are passionate about a topic, music, have an idea for a programme, or would just like to help out, let us know now.

email studio@ferryfm.com.

Full training will be given and there will always be a producer on hand to help you out.

Shine On

We are sad to say that Anthony, the voice of Gala for many throughout the 2000’s, has passed away.
A larger than life figure, who threw himself into so many Gala events, he was well known to all visitors in Portaferry, during our Festival.
Anthony also hosted “Love on the Lough” on our festival radio station ferry fm.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

A very Merry Christmas to all our readers, wherever you are in the world. We hope you have a lovely holiday and get some time off to spend with the ones you love.

Thanks for all your support over the last 12 months and here’s to 2019 and Gala number 52. If you can come along and celebrate with us, fantastic, if you are away, fear not, this Gala Website will keep you up to date with everything going on.

The Lights are On

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Square for the Christmas Lights switch on. The choirs from St Mary’s and Portaferry Integrated were a delight to hear and put everyone in fine festive form. Merry Christmas from all at Portaferry Gala and a special thanks to the Deputy Mayor Cllr Eddie Thompson who counted down to 6pm.

Galaween

Thanks to everyone who came along to our Galaween BooFest.  Thanks to those who volunteered their time to assist the Gala Committee and to all the children (and parents) who dressed up.  Special thanks to Exploris for allowing us to use the Aquarium for our Twilight Trail and to Ards and North Down Borough Council for their support.

Calling all Members…..

Thanks to everyone who attended Portaferry Gala’s AGM and special thanks to, Phillippa, the out-going Chair and Paula, vice-chair and Paul, for their valuable contribution to Gala over the past number of years.

If you were unable to attend the AGM, but would like to re-register as a Gala member, please contact admin@portaferrygala.com by 1st November.
Please note all previous members, not in attendance at the AGM, need to re-register.

Changes to the traditional Gala programme are anticipated and only registered members will be entitled to attend the meetings at which the changes will be discussed and agreed.

Meanwhile everyone interested in helping with our Halloween event is invited to a meeting on Thursday 25th October at 8.30pm in the Market House.
